Galleria Colonna and the Apartment of Princess Isabelle
One of the largest and sumptuous palace in Rome host the Colonna Gallery which has been built and decorated from the second half of the Seventeen century by the cardinal Girolamo and it has been inaugurated in 1703. The prestigious art collection that is here kept is among the most important roman private collection of the Renaissance, which has works of Rubens, Van Dyck, Tintoretto, Veronese, Brill, Rosa and Carracci. Besides the splendour of those paintings, the magnificence of the rooms is preserved and give all the suggestion of the patrician mansion of the late ‘600 as a exceptional testimony of the late baroque of Rome. The visit will end in the fifteen century wing of the palace, with frescos of Pinturicchio, where furniture and a collection of paintings of Northerner masters of Renaissance and Sixteen century are preserved. In that wing until 1980 lived the Princess Isabelle Colonna, to whom the apartment is dedicated by the will of her progeny.

Villa Farnesina alla Lungara
The wonderful villa of the rich Sienese banker Agostino Chigi built during the late 1500 on the right bank of the Tiber is one of the masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance. It has been designed by Peruzzi and some of its frescoes are made by Raffaello and Sodoma. In front of the villa, along via della Lungara, there is the eighteen century Corsini mansion, already the residence of Cristina of Sweden.

Apartments and Garden of Palazzo Ricci Sacchetti
One of the largest and better preserved noble mansion of Via Giulia has been designed by Sangallo as his residence. On his death the mansion was sold by his heirs to Cardinal Ricci and then was enlarged by the architect Nanni di Baccio Bigio. During 1600 it was bought by marquises Sacchetti, old noble family from Florence, where they already live today. We will visit the south wing of the noble floor which conserves the famous Salone dei Mappamondi with 1553 frescoes of Salviati, the family chapel and other rooms with the original furniture and the garden.

Palazzo Taverna
Former dwelling of the Orsini family and later of the infamous Borgia’st this imposing fortness-palace is nested in the very heart of medieval and renaissance Rome, between the Saint Angel Castle and the Piazza Navona. It was originaly build in the XIII century and it was even metioned by the famous poet Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy. The main entrance reminds of its ancient fortified structure but leads into a wide courtyard decorated by a bear topped tall fountain, symbol of the Orsini (from Orso Italian for Bear). The baroque wing of the palace has a remarkable painting collection and it is furnished as the manors of that time.

Palazzo Patrizi
The former building were acquired in 1642 by the Marchesi Patrizi, a family originally from Siena, with several connection with roman families including the marchesi Montoro e and Marchesi Naro. The family still owns the apartments now and they will be personally illustrating the history and the momorabilia including hte famous “Vessillo di Santa Romana Chiesa” one of the most important heralds of the Catholic Church donated originally to the Naro family by Pope Urban VIII in 1603. The collection of paintings has been enriched thanks to the acquisition made by the two treasures of the Popes: Costanzo Patrizi (1589–1624) and Giovanni Battista Patrizi (1658–1727).

Palazzo del Quirinale
The Quirinale Palace due to its elevated position and to the particular healthiness of the place where it is, it hosted since the antiquity of the residential places, public and cult buildings. The architecture of the Palace, as we can see today, has been made by the architect Flaminio Ponzio who built the wing towards the garden which includes the Scalone of honour, the big room of Concistoro and the little chapel of Annunziata with frescoes of Guido Reni. Carlo Moderno replaced him as responsible of the whole wing on via del Quirinale where he managed to obtain some important rooms such as the Sala Regia, the Paoline Chapel and the pope apartments. During 1600 as well as works of defensive feature, the gardens were enlarged by Gianlorenzo Bernini as far as it concern the drawing of the loggia and by Pietro da Cortona a frieze as frescoes representing scenes of the old and new testament to be realized along the gallery of the wing.

The Masterpieces of Via Giulia
The Oratory of Gonfalone (private visit), Via Giulia, the Church of Orazione e Morte (of prayers and death), Piazza Farnese, Spada Gallery.
Via Giulia, is a less than a mile long street parallel to the river Tiber which spans over 500 years: It bears the name of Pope Julius II Della Rovere, and is rich in art and history as well as antique shops and anectodes. We will start form the so clled Sistine Chapel of the Couter-reformation and then walk in the oscure crypt decorate with skull s and bones of 19th century deaths.
After measuring the illusionistic gallery by Francesco Borromini n Palazzo Spada we will end up in Piazzaq fanese or in the nearby Campo de’ Fiori for a glass of Vino.
